Professor Peter Zablud AM, RFD, FSNV, DIST.FANZCN

Professor Zablud was appointed a Life Member of the Society of Notaries of Victoria at a meeting of the Council of the Society on 1 April 2019. In the Australia Day Honours 2017, Peter became a member (AM) in the General Division of the Order of Australia for significant service to the law, and to standards and education, particularly in the field of notarial studies. Peter was appointed to office by the Archbishop of Canterbury in 1990 and has been a member of the Council of the Society since 1999, serving as President in 2004-2005. He is a current Executive Governor and past Chairman of the Australian and New Zealand College of Notaries.

Joseph Lukaitis AM, RFD, FSNV, FANZCN

In the Australia Day Honours 2019, Joseph Lukaitis became a member (AM) in the General Division of the Order of Australia, for significant service to the community through support for medical research and not-for-profit organisations. Joseph was appointed to office by the Archbishop of Canterbury in 1993. Joseph has been a member of the Council of the Society of Notaries of Victoria since 2002, serving as President for 2 years from 2010. He is currently the Chairman and President of the Australian and New Zealand College of Notaries.

Paul J Cariss FSNV FANZCN

Paul Cariss was appointed a Life Member of the Society of Notaries of Victoria at a meeting of the Council of the Society on 1 April 2019. Paul was appointed to office by the Archbishop of Canterbury in 1985. He joined the Council of the Society in 2010 and retired at the end of 2018. During his time on the Council, he served as President for four years from 2011until 2015. Paul is an Executive Governor and current Secretary of the Australian and New Zealand College of Notaries. He is a Director of the Common Law Association of Notaries. Paul recently published a 326-page book ‘Victorian Notary’, a book about the history of the Victorian Notariat, on behalf of the Society.
